The Green Monster

The Green Monster can be recognized by anyone and could be anyone. He could be the hulk or really anything that reminds you of a monster. To me the green monster could be that little annoying voice in the back of your head saying you can’t do it when you’re trying your best.

For example, you could be on the first tee at a major tournament about to tee off and then you get this feeling that you can’t go win this tournament, or the fear of failure. That little monster in your head can destroy you if you let it, but you have to be mentally tough and not let it get to you. Or you could be playing golf and you are coming down the 18th hole and only one stroke back from the lead and you’re telling yourself you can do it, but there’s just that little noise again, telling you you’re going to mess up.  Anything you put your mind to is possible. You have to believe you can and you’re already halfway there.

A green monster could be just someone who doesn’t believe in you as much as you believe in yourself. Sometimes people just need that reassurance that you CAN do it. For me it is always nice for people to talk to me about my game because it is like a boost in me self confidence.

It also could be the annoying high grass that surrounds the fairways. If you hit your ball into this grass it is almost impossible to hit out of. You more than likely will have to take a penalty stroke and go back on the line it entered the grass or hit from the previous shot. This grass could represent a monster because it kills your golf score and no one likes seeing a course with tall grass.
